In 2017, the state of Illinois made a significant change to its child support laws. Under the previous child support statute, the amount of child support was determined based on a percentage of the noncustodial parent's income. The new child support statute, however, uses an income-sharing model that takes each parent's income into account, as well as the amount of each party's parenting time. The Wirtz Law Firm is skilled at interpreting and applying the new child support statute and representing clients in any disputes related to the new law.
